Incase you didn’t know we’re passionate about three traits - quality, creativity and lifestyle. So we decided to put together a 3 part series of shots inspired by our recent trip to Japan. Over the coming weeks we will roll out the other two themes ‘creativity’ and ‘lifestyle’, but this week, Pt. 1 is about quality…

By quality in this regard we refer to the way the Japanese embrace simple and practical everyday living. This is an essence of quality. And the things that stood out to us were the things we would often overlook back home. For example, the way houses are built, the pavement on the streets, the allocation of streetlights, and on this occassion… manhole covers.

As a result, our heads were looking down an awful lot, but we couldn’t stop admiring the different shapes, sizes, detail and intricate patterns found in Japanese manhole covers. It served to remind us of the beauty of objects as they age; and also how something simple such as colour can give character and appeal to the ordinary. Which is your favourite?
